The Sponge City Summit Forum, held on September 26, 2017, at the Conference Center of the Zhujiang Hotel in Guangzhou, was co-hosted by the Guangzhou Municipal Engineering Association and the Guangzhou Association for Doctoral Innovation and Technology Research. This forum brought together more than 400 industry leaders, experts, and senior professionals, including representatives from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Water Resources, the Guangzhou Municipal Government, the Office of the Guangzhou Leading Group for Sponge City Construction, the Guangzhou Municipal Housing and Urban–Rural Development Commission, and the Guangzhou Municipal Water Affairs Bureau. The forum aims to promote the adoption and application of new policies, products, technologies, and materials related to sponge city development, flood prevention and drainage, remediation of black and odorous water bodies, and ecological restoration in Guangzhou.

During the afternoon’s parallel session, Mr. Zhao Wenxue, Chairman of Guangdong Zhongtulian Coating Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to present the company’s newly developed “Sponge City Outdoor Ecological Grounding System” product series. In light of the current era, pressing environmental challenges, and evolving market demands, he elaborated on the system’s role and significance from the perspectives of its design principles, performance, and functional benefits. Mr. Zhao focused on explaining the product’s underlying principles, system architecture, methods for evaluating its ecological drainage efficiency, and real-world applications in daily life. By drawing on before-and-after case studies of the Shengtianxia Sponge City Outdoor Ecological Grounding System, he demonstrated how this solution offers the highest-quality, scientifically grounded approach to addressing urban drought and waterlogging issues.
